Mexico and US Halt Tariffs For a Month, Mexico to Send 10K Troops to Border

Mexico and the US have halted tariffs for one month and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has agreed to deploy 10,000 troops to the border to combat drug trafficking and unlawful border crossings into the U.S..

President Donald Trump said on his social media that there will be negotiations in the meantime that will involve Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of Treasury Scott Bessent, and Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, and high-level Representatives of Mexico.

In addition, Trump spoke to Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau and said he believed Ottawa “misunderstood.”

Eighty percent of Mexico’s exports are to the United States and the 25 percent tariffs on things like avocados, beer and cars makes an impact.
