Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Wes Moore Share Tête-à-Tête News Editor, July 9, 2024October 30, 2024 By DONNA BALANCIA WASHINGTON, D.C. – Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of Canada met with Gov. Wes Moore on Monday. Trudeau is in town to attend the NATO Summit, which starts today (July 9). Prior to discussions on business and trade, the two figureheads shared a photo opp and a few words. “What a real pleasure it is to sit down with Gov. Wes Moore of Maryland, an opportunity to talk about progressive politics, fighting for the environment, fighting for better wages and opportunities for everyone,” Trudeau said. “We’re in a very complicated world right now and challenging time where connecting with people and delivering for them is more important than it’s ever been. It’s underpinning the survival of our democracy in many ways. “And having great people work together and think about how to build a brighter future is always really important. I look forward to getting to know you better.” After a repeat of his statement in French, Trudeau added that he and Moore would continue to discuss topics like AI, and quantum technologies, where he said “Canada is doing well.” Gov. Moore said: “It is an honor to be with you and your leadership, it transcends borders and we are sincerely grateful for everything you continue to do and the leadership you continue to show. You and your nation are so incredibly important to us as Marylanders but also as Americans. “You continue to show there’s a human bond that transcends nationalities that it does not stop with a passport, it does not stop with national or geographic lines,” Moore said. “The basic ideas of humanity and basic values and supports and protection for individuals, particularly those who need and deserve those supports the most. “So the leadership you all show and continue to show from climate change to economic opportunities and supports, it’s admirable and it is a real honor to be with you.
